Ken Hoagland on Huckabee Show: FairTax 101: What is the Fair Tax?

Ken Hoagland, the National Director of FairTax.org and Americans for Fair Taxation, was a guest on Huckabee this past weekend. "In essence, the more you spend, the more tax you pay," said Hoagland. He added that once all of the corporate taxes are gone, private investments will come "rushing into our country...[the FairTax] is the shortest path to creating jobs in the United States."

Your Michigan FairTax Association (MFTA) is on the march.  We have: appointed an Executive Director (Mindy Fernandes), begun publication of the MI FairTax Newsletter (MI FairTax Clarion Sentinel), filled all our state level leadership positions, and initiated a Candidate Contact Program for all Michigan State and National offices to determine their FairTax position. The Michigan FairTax Association has an on going program to reach the ear of many key politicians, business leaders and organizations. Another major project is to add FAQs and other informative documents to our website while updating and improving many others.
We continue to add Michigan candidates having been identified with the MI FairTax/FairTax as a major plank in their political platform. This growing list will be publish on our website very soon.

These candidates will spend significant dollars in their quest for office, and will spark new awareness for the  MI FairTax/FairTax message.. The MFTA says thank you to these FairTax Patriots as they seek fiscal sanity for our state and nation.
We are working to find "heavy hitter" funding, so our core message about the MI FairTax/FairTax is able to reach prime time. For now the MFTA recognizes and appreciates all the donations of time and money from our members.
The MFTA currently needs your help in identifying local and regional candidates and their position on the MIFairTax/FairTax as soon as possible. Respond to: john.crawford@mifairtax.org with accurate name, email, and phone contact for candidates seeking office in your area.  If you can help John to assemble the candidate contact information statewide please let him know.  The Candidate Contact program is vital to our FairTax effort.

SENTINEL FAIRTAX FACTS
 Why the FairTax Prebate?
OUT AND ABOUT
PATRIOTS CORNER

April 15 is about to teach another American civics lesson to every Michigan taxpayer and it's not what we learned in school.
No other single public policy so reinforces a perception of self-dealing, unfairness and incompetence than the corrupted state tax system. Bloated beyond decipherability with pages of regulations, the state income tax system is driven by personal power, lobby profits and, through tax inducements and penalties, a changing menu of citizen and business manipulation.
There is citizen anger and why not? The state government, designed to serve and reflect the will of the majority-has become a government that makes political insiders richer and more powerful at the expense of Michigan's citizens.  The primary beneficiaries of our state tax system are Members of the Legislature handing out lucrative favors to well-heeled tax lobbyists and those who can afford to game the system to their advantage. Tax Day has turned into a painful annual lesson of just how broken the state tax code is, and how much the average citizen has lost
Foreign competitors enjoy significant cost advantages over Michigan producers because of our Michigan tax system.  In Lansing, business is very, very good. With huge sums spent each year lobbying the tax system; the recession has been a wonderful windfall for many tax lobbyists. While Michigan suffers, new aristocracies in Lansing, far from the little people who pay the bills, celebrate their good fortune.
But we now know the unfilled promise "something must be done" is not good enough anymore. Remembering what we once learned in civics class, Michigan citizen's from across the political spectrum are taking time from their pursuits of happiness to register angry and indignant warnings to the political class that "something will be done"-or else.
As MI FairTaxers we know the MI FairTax is the best solution. There is a growing understanding that Michigan's people cannot win back control of their own government until the state tax system is  fundamentally repaired, ripped out by the roots and replaced.
Revolutionary? Yes, in the same spirit as Boston Harbor and why not? We are a people who rallied against "taxation without representation" and yet future generations of unborn are being taxed to secure mind-numbing levels of state debt today. There is barely concealed contempt for the average Michigan Citizen who objects to more and more of the fruits of their labor being transferred to those who pay no income taxes at all. The fact that former members of  the Legislature profit lucratively working the corruption of the tax writing committees has brought public opinion near the boiling point.
The idea that, "we the people" are seen by the political class as primarily useful for our ability to fund personal political ambitions and unrestrained government growth continues to resonate at every Tea Party and in the growing tax rebellion now gathering steam. Those insiders who ignore this healthy insistence that public policy actually benefit the public, risk the growing wrath of a people who actually do remember what they learned in their civics lessons and understand that they have been betrayed.

BUSINESS'S DO NOT PAY TAXES! The oft repeated phrase, "tax business, soak the rich", has no basis in fact, and represents a very subtle twist of the truth. This "tax business" rhetoric represents a convenient lie used by government officials to cover hidden taxes imposed upon all of us.  Business's can only obtain money to cover expenses through the sale of  their product or service. The logic is simple, the truth is painful, ONLY PEOPLE PAY TAXES.

The Michigan FairTax needs your help! Your volunteer FairTax leaders have been casting about looking for that person or person's who having achieved a public persona, would be willing to take a positive stand for the Michigan FairTax. A suggestion has been made that we identify those in professional sports sympathetic to a Michigan FairTax, who would be willing to be identified as a supporter. There could even be a you tube type video on our web site. We are thinking, baseball, football, hockey, basketball, college athletes, coaches, even athletic directors and or managers. The idea is to help build public recognition for the FairTax based on these endorsements.  How can you help? If you know personally any professional athletes, college athletes, coaches, etc., and could recommend, introduce, ask, make contact, or in some way facilitate their involvement in the Michigan FairTax, our program would be that much stronger. Read and act now. "The Fairness Doctrine", IT TAKES AWAY YOUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH ON THE INTERNET.

Glenn Beck reported today that he was alerted by Americans For Prosperity that the FCC decided over the Easter weekend to implement NET NEUTRALITY THIS WEEK. They are taking public imput until Thursday, April 8. They just didn't notify anyone except moveon.org and other leftist groups, and those groups have sent a ton of messages.

Americans For Prosperity has a website to send your messages:

It is hard to get to the site. Even though you type it in exactly, most browsers bring up a list of choices that only refer to it.  I finally got it using Bing, but it was on page two of the choices.

If you do not know what Net Neutrality means, It is the so called "Fairness Doctrine", it takes away your Freedom of Speech on the Internet.

They cannot claim that the American People are demanding this, as they did for health care.  So, they know they could never get this through Congress.  They have to find some other back door way, using unelected officials in a government agency.

Somehow, Robert McChesney is involved in this.  From Glenn Beck:

Now, let me introduce you now to a friend of Mark Lloyd's. In fact, he is also a friend of Van Jones.

He founded a little group called Free Press. They are looking for anything but free press. Let me tell you a little bit about the founder, Robert McChesney. He is the former editor of "Monthly Review," which he himself has described as one of the most important Marxist publications in the world, let alone the United States.

He is a backer of Hugo Chavez, the crackdown on the media, and even suggested that owners of a TV station that was critical of Chavez should be arrested for treason. My, that sounds like Mark Lloyd. I wonder if they know each other.

He has said, quote, about the U.S. "Any serious effort to reform the media system would have to be necessarily part of a revolutionary program to overthrow the capitalist system itself. Also, there is no real answer, but to remove, brick by brick, the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles."

----------------------------------------------------

Also, Congress created the National Broadband Plan and somehow I think this directs the FCC to do what it is doing. Does anyone know when th NBP was passed?  Maybe when all our attention was on health care?

Star Parker-'Racism & Obamacare'~We can no longer afford to be both..

Read Star Parker's weekly column
Dear Friend of CURE,

Here's Star Parker's weekly column. Hope you can take the time to read it.

Racism and Obamacare

We can no longer afford to be both a big government entitlement state and a free, creative, and prosperous nation

A note from Star Parker
Star Parker, founder and president of CURE
Like chewing gum stuck to the heel of your shoe, racism seems to be stuck forever to American public discourse.  No matter what we do or what happens, somebody will find a racial motive.

Democrats have passed government health care with no Republican votes.  Their leadership threatened and bribed their own members to eek out a majority.  They resorted to an arcane procedure that maybe 100 people in the whole country can explain in order to pass a massive bill that polls show a majority of Americans don't want.

The federal government, for the first time ever, will force every American to buy, with a big chunk of their income, a product designed by government bureaucrats, with an army of IRS agents snooping on each of us to make sure we did it.
And how are many liberals explaining why so many Americans are ticked off?

It's because our president is black.  It's about racism.

Even me.  I'm steamed.  And even though I happen to be black – I've even spoken at some tea party rallies – I still must be a racist.

Obama's approval rating has dropped from 70% when he was elected to 50% today.  His disapproval has skyrocketed from 10% when he was elected to 42% today.

Per the Washington Post, in January 2009 58% of Americans said that the Obama presidency helped race relations.  By January 2010, this was down to 40%.
Has this wave of disillusionment with Obama been driven by a sudden realization that the man Americans elected president is black?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's approval has dropped from 41% in January 2009 to 36% today and her disapproval has risen from 42% to 54%.  Is she black?

Were the raucous townhalls last summer – which gave birth to the tea party movement-  where irate constituents gave their representatives a piece of their mind about Obamacare, racially motivated?

Care to understand what all this is really about?

Consider a powerful observation about a former time by one of America's great historians, Jacques Barzun.  Barzun was a professor and dean at Columbia University and a Presidential Medal of Freedom winner.

"We make a great mistake in calling the American War of Independence, the "American Revolution," he wrote.  "In 1776 the Americans rebelled against recent rules and impositions.  What they wanted was not a new type of government, but the old type they enjoyed.  They were used to many freedoms, which they claimed as the immemorial rights of Englishmen.  Once they defeated the English armies and expelled the Loyalists, they went back to their former ways, which they modestly enlarged, and codified in the Bill of Rights."

In a similar fashion today,  Americans are rebelling as the freedom we have enjoyed, freedom which defines life in this country, is being taken away and new "rules and impositions" are being imposed.

It's not about theory or some abstract ideology. The intense feelings flow from losing what you have and what you know is vital.

What is new today is we can no longer continue the illusion of having our cake and eating it.  We can no longer afford to be both a big government entitlement state and a free, creative, and prosperous nation.   It's the prosperity created by our freedom that has financed the entitlements.  But now the entitlements are overtaking and strangling our freedom.

So now is a time of choosing.  We're either going to remain the land of the free or transform into the land of the bureaucrat.

The antipathy of activists toward Mr. Obama is not about how he looks but what he has done.  That he has chosen and imposed on us the path of bureaucracy.

New!

  • As more Americans get herded onto the government plantation -- 30 million more with this new bill -- it's easy to keep them there

  • According to the Los Angeles Times, "just 39 percent of L.A.'s fourth-graders are even basically literate."

  • Mr. Obama and his colleagues on Capitol Hill perceive a once in a lifetime opportunity to grasp the holy grail of the left and realize the dream of transforming America into a European style welfare state.

  • We can't continue living in a lawless society where politicians and corporate welfare queens conspire to do whatever they want with our resources

  • Environmentalism is a new platform to welcome poor blacks onto the government plantation.

Tim Burns is running in Pennsylvania's 12th District. Remember back when John Murtha died … this May 18th Special Election to replace him. http://www.facebook.com/l/96859;www.timburnsforcongress.com/index.php

Remember the last special election we got involved it … that was Scott Brown in Massachusetts. This is almost the same situation – replacing a liberal with a conservative! Let's get involved and help get Tim elected to Congress.

Volunteer to make phone calls – most of us have cell phones that we can use. He needs our help. Call the campaign and see how you can help.

Tim is not a politician … but you know, if we can elect enough non-politicians we just might make a difference up there in DC.

Thanks for whatever you can do to help get Tim elected. The link to contribute was entirely too long to put in … you can donate from his site.
